HOLLYOAKS stars Lysette Anthony and Luke Jerdy cut each other’s throats because of recent charges of racism by costar Rachel Adedeji.
The 28-year-old actress plays Lisa Loveday in the soap opera Channel 4 and went to her social media on Friday to condemn the show for her response to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Lysette, who plays Marnie Nightingale, responded to people on Twitter who called her to say nothing publicly about Rachel’s accusations.
She wrote, “Oh, I’m going to talk about … a place of compassion and FACT … but I will NOT be bullied in a safe, white and rash rhetoric. ”
But when Lysette doubled her position, Jesse Donovan actor Luke Jerdy retweeted her and warned her not to be “hurtful.”
He wrote, “If you want FACTS … don’t hesitate to ask me DM. I was there when one of the incidents with Rachel happened, I heard it with my own ears. We are now patiently awaiting a response from Hollyoaks.
“Ask your colleagues and get in touch with them before tweeting this stuff.” It hurts. ”
Luke claimed that he went to see the Hollyoaks bosses after the incident, but nothing was done and wrote to Rachel after his original message that he would “stand with you, support you and will do it” always. It’s time to really change. ”
Lysette continued to play the victim, later tweeting that she was in the same boat as JK Rowling who is involved in his own transphobic controversy on Twitter.
The actress tweeted, “There are many,” when actor Joe McGann suggested that people come for JK with “forks and torches.”
Rachel accused Hollyoaks of being “performative and dishonest” before listing the program’s shortcomings and said “systematic changes must be put into practice”.
His comments led the series to launch an investigation, and now a number of Rachel’s co-stars have expressed support.
The soap opera released a statement saying, “Hollyoaks has no tolerance for racism. We take Rachel Adedeji’s comments extremely seriously and are investigating. ”
Last night on Twitter and Twitter, she condemned the show, writing: “I am disappointed with Hollyoaks’ approach to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement yesterday.
“Did Black Lives Matter when I was told” You are all the same “by a makeup artist you used, and remains employed until this day? ”
The former X Factor competitor was responding to a video posted by the series that featured her on screen Aunt Kelle Bryan.
Rachel then went on to detail some of the list issues at her workplace – including the lack of diversity in the management team and the shocking insults of a senior production member.
She said, “Will Black Lives Matter when a number of black actresses have been forced to radically change their hair, because otherwise, viewers” would not be able to distinguish them. “? “
Rachel continued, “Does Black Lives really matter to you if in the past four years at Hollyoaks, I’ve only worked with one black director? ”
Suggesting it only scratched the surface, Rachel added, “Honestly, the list goes on.
“The presence of a black actor named Hollyoaks to show that the work is in progress is not as progressive as they think. In fact, very little is done behind the scenes. ”
Many of her co-stars came to support her, including Karl Collins, who plays his father on screen Louis Loveday, wrote in response: “Well … it will not be surprising that I love this woman I call affectionately “darta!” ” “
