Glastonbury 2020: Mystery as plane appears in front of Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm

A plane appeared on the Glastonbury festival webcam this evening (Saturday, June 27).The plane was parked in front of the pyramid stage and was visible over the shoulders of Lauren Laverne and Clara Amfo during the introduction of the BBC Two Glastonbury experience.

No explanation of the appearance of the aircraft has yet been given, but its presence could hardly be more visible.

UPDATE – Sculptor Joe Rush is behind the plane.

He calls him “the camper” and he lives there during the festival.

He is the man behind the Glastonbury on Sea and Cineramageddon areas of the festival.

Laura Marling is scheduled to give a live show from Worthy Farm later that evening. It is not known whether the aircraft could be used as an accessory for the whole.

Paul McCartney was to make the headlines tonight on the Pyramid stage before the cancellation of this year’s festival due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Nothing suggests the former Beatles star could make a surprise appearance on the BBC tonight, although if one of the stars originally booked to appear in Pilton this summer could afford a private plane, the former Beatles star would be among the most likely.

Time will tell exactly why the plane, which has a particular bird livery, appeared in Somerset.
