France stops six of stolen Banksy’s works: source | News

PARIS (Reuters) - Six personnes ont été arrêtées en France pour le vol d'une œuvre d'art du street artiste britannique Banksy volée dans la salle de concert du Bataclan à Paris, a indiqué samedi une source judiciaire.

The mural, which shows a veiled female figure looking sadly downward, was found on a farm in central Italy earlier this month, almost a year and a half after its withdrawal.

Two of those arrested are under formal investigation for suspected theft. The other four are suspected of concealment of theft, the source said.

The thieves are believed to have used portable grinders to remove the emergency exit door on which the mural was painted before transporting it in a van, Italian media reported when the work was discovered.

Bataclan, one of Paris’s best known rock sites, was stormed by activists at a concert in November 2015 in coordinated attacks around the city that left 130 dead.
