France gives green light to river cruises

The French government is to allow for river cruises to continue from the 11th of July.

“We are very pleased with this decision,” Lucas Schmitter, e-commerce and sales director at CroisiEurope, told SeaTrade. “We expect a resumption on the 13th of July, with our routes.”

The company plans to resume cruises on all the rivers in france with a reduction of the fleet on some of them, such as the Rhine (three ships instead of four) and the Seine (two instead of three).

International cruises will begin in late July/early August. The Spanish and the Portuguese rivers are currently expected to return in August.

“We have bookings from France, but also Switzerland, Belgium and Germany,” Schmitter added. “We also hope to have some of the Spain and Denmark. Even if our activities have been significantly reduced, we are more optimistic than three months ago.”
