Former U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine negotiations Kurt Volker says disappointed with position of Germany and France seeking to avoid accusations against Russia over non-compliance from Minsk.
“Unfortunately, the United States does not play a large role in supporting this process after I resigned in September. I think we really lost on this file, and now everything is really on the shoulders of France and Germany, “Volker said in an online conference. on the current situation in the Donbass organized by the Atlantic Council on June 10, reports a correspondent for Ukrinform.
In this context, he said he was “very disappointed” with the situation. “France and Germany are not making it clear that Russia is violating the Minsk agreements,” said Volker.
Russia is a party to the agreement, one of the signatories, not an outside observer because Moscow is trying to present its position, the diplomat said.
” He [Russia] is the main protagonist of the conflict and a party to the agreements, and it does not respect the commitments made. And I think that’s one of the most important things, “said Volker.
