Former West Brom star Andre Wisdom stabbed in Liverpool attack

Former West Bromwich Albion loan star Andre Wisdom was hospitalized after a violent robbery. The 27-year-old – currently in County Derby – was stabbed as he got out of his car in Toxteth, Liverpool on Sunday June 28, according to The Sun.

Wisdom spent the 2014-15 campaign on loan to the Hawthorns and, just hours after playing for the Rams on Saturday, was attacked while visiting his family.

A Derby County spokesperson said, “The Derby County football club can confirm that André Wisdom was the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery.

“He suffered injuries that brought him to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.

“The Merseyside police are investigating and the club will focus its efforts on supporting André and his family. Therefore, we will not be making any comments at this time. “

Meanwhile, a source said The sun : “This is terrible news. He had to be at the top after his team played so well.

“Then having something like that happen is just tragic. It was completely unprovoked.

“It is impossible to imagine what his family has to go through.

“All his fans wish him a speedy recovery and I hope he will be back on the field soon. “

Wisdom was praised by fans for its Man of the Match display in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Reading Championship rivals.

The defender, who has played 24 times for Albion, transferred the Liverpool Derby to a permanent contract in 2017.

In addition to West Brom, Wisdom has benefited from loan stays in Norwich City and Red Bull Salzburg.

Wisdom remains in a stable state and should fully recover.
