Fleetwood Mac is one of the most popular groups and dysfunctional in the 1970s and 1980s and beyond. Despite this malfunction, the group has been a huge success and their timeless music is always appreciated by fans new and old to this day.

Throughout the 50 year history of the group, the iconic band has seen many members joining and leaving Fleetwood Mac. One of the departures, the most interesting was by founding member and guitarist, Jeremy Spencer.

The output of Spencer is a saga particularly interesting, which leads fans to wonder, who are the musicians, who formed Fleetwood Mac, as well as the question of who was Spencer and what was the unusual reason why he left his career in rock and roll?

The original core of the group included drummer Mick Fleetwood, bassist John McVie, guitarist/singer Peter Green, and the guitarist Spencer. The group was formed in London in 1967 and released their first self-titled album in 1968.

Shortly after the creation of the group, the duo of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band, and the band’s popularity explodes around the world. The legendary group is known for hits such as The Chain, Tusk, Rhiannon, Dreams, and many, many others.

Fleetwood Mac has been introduced in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and is one of the most sold of all time. The group is also known for its various departures from the top level over the years. This turnover has seen legendary musicians come in and out over the years, and yet, the group has been able to adapt to find a commercial success and a critical incredible.

The first major output of the group was the singer Green, who left the group in 1971. The first year of the 1970s was a difficult year for the group, because it was the year where the two founding members of Green and Spencer are gone. The reason for green to go was a dependency on the drug use of LSD and the increasing pressure that has affected his mental health. Spencer left Fleetwood Mac for a reason a little more unexpected and spiritual.

Who is Jeremy Spencer and why did he leave the band ?

According to Rolling Stone, quit Fleetwood Mac is almost a rite of passage for musicians.

Over the next 50 years and that the group has existed, at least 12 members have joined and left. Among the outputs of two figures, perhaps none is more strange than that which has been made by Spencer.

Spencer was one of the founding members of the group, but has always been the second guitar behind the original singer for the group Green. Even before their respective exits, Spencer, and Green clashed. These clashes were mainly due to the refusal of Spencer to contribute to the songs written by Green.

Spencer left Fleetwood Mac in 1971 to join the cult based in Huntington, California, known under the name of The Family. Its release came a few hours before the band plays a concert in Los Angeles, and Spencer was found five days later. The authorities have found the guitarist locked in the seat of The Family.

What is the cult of The Family?

Also known under the name teens for Christ and children of God, the family has been founded and led by David Berg. The group believes in the spiritual revolution to come conducted by the group, and that the outside world that they call the system is full of evil.

The group also believes in sexual freedom, especially Berg who was later accused of inappropriate behaviour relating to members of the group. Interestingly, the group also has links with other celebrities outside of Spencer. The actor Rose McGowan was a member of the sect as a child, just like the Phoenix family children, River, Joaquin, Rain and Summer.

McGowan and the children of the Phoenix have escaped the cult when they were young, and have spoken against it. Spencer started as a member of the group in 1971 and is still affiliated with the organization. Spencer has used his musical ability for The Family, as he has continued to release albums to promote the message of the cult after his release from Fleetwood Mac.
