The hosts have scored a comprehensive victory 3-0 to overtake Albion in the table, while Fulham remain seven points behind the team of Slaven Bilic after having slipped to fifth place.
There are still seven matches to set the image of the promotion, but Fulham will be without the best striker in Mitrovic for three of them.
The striker, who has scored 23 times this season, has been ruled out for three games by the FA for an elbow on defender of Leeds Ben White.
The act was not punished by the officials but Mitrovic has been convicted of a violent behaviour on Monday.
A press release stated: “Aleksandar Mitrovic of Fulham FC has been suspended for three matches following the championship match, EFL between Leeds United FC and Fulham FC on Saturday 27 June 2020.
“The attacker has admitted that his behaviour in or around the third minute of the match, it was contrary to rule E1 (a) of the FA and was in violent behaviour, in an incident which was not seen by the officials of the match but was filmed. “
The fans of Albion and Leeds think that the incident has undermined any hope that the team of Scott Parker still had to fill the gap in the first two.
One of them said on the social networks: “Fulham will be out of the race for the first two by the time they come to the Hawthorns [July 14]they will have one eye on the playoffs, this is good news as long as we take at least seven points on the next nine. ”
“And with it, any slim hope that Fulham had to catch us and WBA were gone,” said another. “It’s two hours on three to go up automatically now. ”
A third added: “Mitrovic prohibited. (Rightly so). Now between Leeds WBA and Brentford. That the best teams win! ”
“Well,” deserved it, ” said a supporter. “This has probably cost them a place at Fulham in the playoffs. “
