FA opens investigation into Aleksandar Mitrovic after Ben White elbow with imminent ban

Aleksandar Mitrovic is under investigation by the FA after breaking his elbow in Ben White’s jaw in two minutes yesterday. The Fulham forward threw his right arm into the face of the Leeds United defender after he had cleared the ball long ago in Saturday’s opening trade.

Referee Tony Harrington took no action at the time, but the reruns showed the severity of a collision that left White flat on deck for the better part of a minute.

LeedsLive understands that the Football Federation is aware of the incident and is examining it before making an official decision on any action it may take.

In the past, incidents such as this have been punished by a ban on three matches by the governing body, which would have the effect of eliminating the Serb from clashes with the Queens Park Rangers, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest .

Mitrovic himself has a history with the FA in a very similar incident in 2017. The striker was banned for three games after elbowing Manuel Lanzini of West Ham United.
