French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said that the UNITED states withdraw from international talks on the digital tax is a provocation and said that his country will impose a version of the levy this year, according to the law.
The US Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin has written a letter to the ministries of finance of France, the united kingdom, Spain and Italy, saying that he does not wish to pursue the negotiations to theOf the OECD to agree on a global system for the collection of taxes on large companies of high-tech digital sales.
“It is a provocation to all the partners of the OECD that we were a few centimeters of an agreement on the taxation of digital giants,” The Mayor said Thursday on France Inter. “It is also a provocation to the allies of the UNITED states.”
The European countries have already sent a letter responding to Mnuchin, The Mayor said.
France has suspended the collection of national digital tax earlier this year as part of a truce with the UNITED states, and in return, Washington has held at a distance on the suppression of the French imports. The Mayor has reminded that it will restart the collection of the French tax this year if there was no agreement of the OECD.
“Whatever happens, we will apply a tax on digital giants in 2020 because it is a question of justice,” The Mayor.
