The number of patients treated or released from Covid-19 in India is higher than the cases active for the first time.

The health ministry said on Wednesday that 135,205 people have recovered from the 133,632 cases active in the country.

But infections in India have been on the rise for weeks now, and experts are particularly concerned about the increases after the country lifted its hard lock this week.

Hotspots include major cities like the national capital, Delhi, and the financial capital, Mumbai, which have more than 30,000 and 50,000 cases, respectively.

Delhi’s chief vice minister warned earlier that infections could cross half a million into the city in late July, where hospitals are already struggling to cope.

India has more than 275,000 cases, including nearly 7,500 deaths.
