Caesars Entertainment Corp., the owner of Caesars Palace and other casinos, said an employee died after being tested positive for Covid-19.
The Las Vegas company said it did not know how the employee was infected, but it put a “small number” of workers who had been near the person on paid leave after being informed of the test results .
“We do not know that these people have tested positive at this time,” the company said in a statement. “They will not return to work until the end of the period of self-isolation and they will have obtained a negative result in the Covid-19 test.”
The death came just weeks after Las Vegas casinos gradually reopened to visitors after an almost three-month closure due to the epidemic. The return of travelers remainedslow because the city is a destination largely dependent on airlines, welcoming around 43 million visitors in 2019.
