The United States recorded their biggest increase in new cases of coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, seven States – including California, Florida and Texas – have recorded increases for a record-breaking day.
A record number of 38 672 persons have been tested positive for the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to data compiled by Covid Tracking Project, compared to almost 33 000 yesterday. California (7 149), Texas (5 551) and Florida (5 511) have experienced their largest increases in a day, but these last two not realizing that about a third of the approximately 96 000 tests since Tuesday in California.
Georgia (1 703), South Carolina (1 284), Missouri (725), Washington (516) and Oklahoma (482) were the other States to show increases for a record-breaking day in the new case. Arizona (1 795) and North Carolina (1 721) completed the group of seven States to report more than 1 000 new cases in the last day.
Today, a number of officials have taken measures to cope with the growing number of cases in the west and the south. The governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, has suspended the State’s plan to ease more quickly the restrictions of the lock, and has also ordered the residents to wear cover-faces in order to limit the spread of the virus there. The governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut have jointly decided to impose a quarantine of two weeks to the visitors of the States with high rates of infection.
In the United States, 722 other people died of coronavirus in the past day, according to Covid Tracking Project, the largest daily newspaper in one week.
