Dustin Poirier returned to the winning track last Saturday. overnight (June 27, 2020) at UFC ESPN 12 after defeating Dan Hooker in a memorable Lightweight fight for the ages in Las Vegas, Nevada (see again here).
And while we here in Mania suggest a fight against Poirier against another former 155-pound former acting champion, Tony Ferguson, Charles Oliveira has other plans. “Do Bronx” launched on social media to call for the fight against “The Diamond” and presented his ever more impressive CV to plead his cause.
“I just want to know ok, he is missing so I can have my chance because there are seven consecutive victories 5 submissions 2 KO. And here I was born to fight to be in a war inside the Octagon. “
Indeed, Oliveira has accumulated seven consecutive victories (all finishes), five by knockout and two submissions. Charles (ranked # 7) was last seen suffocating Kevin Lee at UFC Fight Night 170 last March (see here), which was the last event to end before the promotion be discontinued for two months due to COVID-19.
His current streak is the longest in his career at the UFC and the longest since accumulating 14 consecutive games to start his professional career in MMA. In its last nine wins, “Do Bronx” has garnered seven post-fight awards, bringing its total to 14 in total.
But before “Do Bronx” focuses on Poirier, there is a small problem with the extension of the contract.
