Wallace, 26 years old, has not given much thought to Ciccarelli’s comments, mostly because the second place finisher in 2018 Daytona 500 has never thought of 50 years, a part-time driver in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outside of the Truck Series, who has zero wins, zero five finishes and has never led a lap in 32 career NASCAR races.
“I’ve only seen the pilot, and I wouldn’t really call him a competitor. I haven’t really seen a lot on the track,” Wallace said of Ciccarelli on MSNBC. “Guys, I’m racing with my peers, they are in favour of NASCAR and the support of my point of view on everything and that means a lot.
“A driver, I have not heard a lot about in the years doesn’t really count, does not really matter.”
Wallace previously said he was “flabbergasted” by Ciccarelli, has since deleted the post on Facebook, in which he wrote: “Well, it’s a fun ride and a dream come true, but if this is the direction NASCAR is headed, we’re not going to participate, after 2020, the season is over,” the post read. “I do not believe in knees during the Anthem, nor has it taken ppl right to wear what ever flag they like.
“I don’t care about the Confederate Flag, but there are ppl who do and it is not racist, everything you do is a (expletive) of a group to respond to the other and I don’t have to spend money to participate in any political BS!! So, everything is on SALE!!”
