I am delighted with this announcement, which I hope will be made today.This shows that the Secretary of State and the Ministry of Education are listening to the profession – I believe they have listened to the profession and it is a really positive step forward.

I think they say if you can extend your provision to other groups of years, you can continue, but you still have to do it as part of the controls that are in place.

And from the point of view of my own confidence, these are simple practicalities, it is not a question of whether or not you want children in school.

We just don’t have enough physical space for other year groups and we have run out of human resources for other year groups.
