BEFORE CHRIST. secures new supply of surgical masks – BC News

Millions of British Columbia respiratory masks purchased from a manufacturer in China have received a seal of approval from separate labs, making them available to pandemic COVID-19 health workers.

Health Minister Adrian Dix says tests show respirators exceed Health Canada requirements and are the equivalent of the sought after N95 masks made by 3M.

He says B.C. now has a stock of three million masks, which puts the province in a good position to resume elective surgeries and prepare for a possible second wave of the virus.

Dix claims that the supply of the new respirators reduces British Columbia’s dependence on traditional mask makers who have been the subject of intense global sourcing efforts.

He says the province is still looking to increase its supply of other personal protective equipment, including surgical masks, gowns and gloves.

BEFORE CHRIST. reported four new cases of COVID-19 and no deaths.
