Scott Morrison, the country’s prime minister, says the attacks have targeted all levels of government as well as political organizations, essential service providers and operators of other critical infrastructure.
“We know it is a sophisticated state system on cyber actors because of the scale and nature of targeting,” he said at a press conference.
Mr. Morrison stopped short of naming the country responsible for this “bad guys” activity, but cautioned: “There are not a large number of state actors likely to engage in this type of activity. ”
He also pointed out that there is no evidence of a “large-scale” breach affecting people’s personal information.
The Prime Minister has declared that he is making a public threat to raise their awareness and says that the frequency of attacks has increased “for many months”.
