At least nine people were killed Saturday evening when a large gathering in Syracuse, New York, officials said.
The Police responded to a report of a stolen car in the city centre car park a little before 9 a.m., They were greeted by a crowd of several hundred people running towards officers, saying shots had been fired, according to the Chief of Police of Syracuse Kenton T. Buckner.
The Police did not hear the shots, while on the scene, Buckner said.
The victims were taken to the hospital, where eight people were treated for non-life threatening injuries. One person was listed in critical condition, Buckner said.
No other details are available, police said.
