Although many people may be happy to see parts of the country and reopen, this does not mean that certain places or businesses do decide to close to new cases of coronavirus case of flare-ups. This is exactly what Apple is doing to a dozen stores in the UNITED states “out of an abundance of caution.”

Apple has announced that it is temporarily closing 11 stores in four u.s. states—North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Arizona because of the current “covid-19 conditions in some of the communities that we serve.” Covid-19 is the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

“We take this step with an excess of caution as we monitor the situation closely and we are pleased that our teams and our customers back as soon as possible,” Apple said, by 9to5Mac.

All of the states where Apple is closing stores have recently seen a surge in the in the case of coronavirus in late or have broken daily coronavirus case totals. To date, the total number of positive cases are as follows: 51,389 case, in North Carolina; 23,756 case of the South Carolina; 49,798 case in Arizona; and 91,670 in Florida.

This is not a surprise. Apple has been one of the first companies to close stores in China and in the world over the course of the pandemic and began to reopen slowly. When he describes his approach to the reopening of the stores in May, Deirdre O’brien, Apple’s senior vice president for retail and people, says Apple would be not to exclude the closing of stores again if the situation required it.

“We look at every piece of data — including cases, short-and long-term trends, and guidelines national and local health officials,” O’brien said. “These are not decisions that we rush in — and the opening of the store in no way means that we do not take preventive measures to close it again if the local conditions warrant.”

Apple requires its employees and customers wear masks or coverings, and when people don’t bring their own. It also performs the temperature control and post questions on the health screen for people with symptoms or for those who have had a recent exposure to someone with covid-19. When it comes to cleaning, Apple claims that it achieves improved deep cleanings throughout the day with a focus on surfaces, display products, and high traffic areas.

Let’s be honest: we don’t want to close again, and nobody wants to have to stay at home again. Locks and closures cause economic and emotional tension, and in many cases, the pain. However, this pandemic is, unfortunately, far from over, and if we want to continue to live in our “new normal,” businesses sometimes have to close the doors for a little time, and sometimes we need to go back inside.

This is not only Apple who does that. In the last days of Beijing locked residential compounds after dozens of cases of coronavirus have been linked to supermarket seafood. Seoul also closed nightclubs and bars in May, after an outbreak of infections. These are a few of the many examples.

I understand, this is not ideal, but it would be worse to give the virus free range to ravage our communities once more.
