Andy Robertson’s request granted as Xherdan Shaqiri brings Liverpool back

Liverpool may be a Premier League champion, but that doesn’t mean they’ve finished the season yet. After winning the title in record time – no one in history had won the first flight with seven games to go – there are now new targets for Jurgen Klopp.

Reaching 100 points would be one, 14 necessary out of a possible 21. Give marginal players and young people the chance to have another.

The campaign continues against Manchester City on Thursday when Pep Guardiola’s team offer the new champions an honor guard at the Etihad.

And the European, world and English champions were back at Melwood on Sunday.

Robbo gets his way

As Liverpool began celebrating their title victory on Thursday evening, Andy Robertson was admitted.

“We are trying to convince the boss to give us a few days off!” ” he’s laughing. “Give him a few more beers and we’ll have two days off!” ”

It must have worked. Rather than return to work on Saturday, the Liverpool players were given an additional day of rest before returning to Melwood on Sunday.

There were probably a few sore heads grateful for the extra 24 hours…

Enter Shaqiri

One player who has been absent for some time, at least from the field action, is Xherdan Shaqiri.

The Swiss has not appeared since January and has not been spotted on any of the training photos in recent weeks.

But after giving a big boost on his way to Melwood, Shaqiri was then on the ground and mixing it with his teammates.

Welcome back, Shaq.

Duo remains missing

The training images confirmed two absences, however.

James Milner and Joel Matip both limped out of the Everton derby last weekend and were not on the team for the home victory at Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

Neither was presented in Sunday training and should now be considered a doubt for the City showdown.

With thick and fast games starting on Thursday, the duo won’t want to be away for too long.

Roberto Firmino unveils his delicious new hairstyle on Sunday at Melwood

The new look of Firmino

Anyone who follows Roberto Firmino on social media would have known what to expect.

But that didn’t make her new hairstyle more eye-catching – or alarming.

With the sides and back largely shaved, the bouffant of Firmino at the top of its bonce is now colored which can only be described as coppery red.

Never change, Bobby.
