Alex Trebek’s craziest successor could host “Wheel of Fortune” Pat Sajak


Peril! is one of the most popular game shows of all time. One of the main reasons for the show’s continued success is the charm and wit of the show’s longtime host, Alex Trebek.

Born George Alexander Trebek in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, the popular game show host began his entertainment career on a Canadian television show called Music Hop in 1966. Trebek then moved to America in 1973 and took his middle name Alex as his character on the screen.

The first host of Peril! was Art Fleming, and the show started in 1964. The game show was created by NBC’s Merv Griffin, who was the creative force behind many of the game shows that Trebek hosted. The original series of Peril! lasted from 1964 to 1975, then was canceled by the network.

The show was then restarted in 1984, with Trebek as host. Trebek has hosted almost all of the Peril! since 1984, but one episode has been hosted by another popular game show host.

The change came on April 1997 Fish Day. On that first day of April, fans were surprised to see Pat Sajak as the host of Peril!, instead of Vanna White on Wheel of Fortune.
