Alberta has two more COVID-19 deaths, 27 new cases

EDMONTON –
Two other Albertans died from COVID-19 while the province reported 27 new cases on Tuesday afternoon. Active cases have increased by one in the past 24 hours to 356 infections. Hospitalizations increased from two to 56 Albertans in the hospital, including six in intensive care.

To date, Alberta has recorded 7,229 cases of coronavirus and 151 deaths.

Active cases have increased slightly in the city of Edmonton to a total of 107 after several outbreaks in the past few days.

Calgary remained the city of Alberta with the most active infections in 194.

PHASE 2 STARTS FRIDAY

Earlier on Tuesday, the Alberta government announced that Stage 2 would start on Friday – a week earlier than planned.

Services like massage therapy and manicures, and places like gyms, pools, and movie theaters may reopen on Friday.

Indoor gatherings have been increased to a maximum of 50 people, while outdoor gatherings can now accommodate up to 100 people.
