Alberta confirms 71 new cases of COVID-19, the largest one-day increase since May

Alberta Health says there are 71 other cases of COVID-19 in the province with no new deaths. This was the largest day-to-day increase since May 16, when there were 72 new cases.

The Edmonton area continues to have the highest number of active cases in Alberta with 257, while Calgary has 239 active cases.

The total number of people who have recovered from the virus is 7,354.

Forty-one people remain in hospital and nine of these patients are in intensive care.

According to data from the province’s COVID-19 website, the age groups with the highest total number of cases were 40 to 49 years old, with 1,704 cases in total, and 30 to 39 years old, with 1 646 cases in total.

Health workers have completed 442,253 COVID-19 tests to date, depending on the province.
