Ahsoka and Maul is played every two in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’

One of the biggest bombs of Star Wars: The clone wars Season 7 was the conversation that Ashoka and Maul had had before that they do not fight. The fans knew that the epic battle of the lightsaber was going to happen, but what they didn’t know, it was the fact that Maul gave Ahsoka an issue. And not only this, but Ahsoka had almost started an alliance with the ancient Sith Lord.

While it was a lot to take, Dave Filoni has just revealed that they, of course, playing both to their strengths. And that may be why they were both lost in the end.

Maul has always been an opportunist with only its best interest in mind

In an interview with Nerdist on June 10, Filoni – Director of supervision and executive producer of The Clone Wars – explained why Maul has tried to appeal to Ahsoka. Did he really want to start a real alliance with her?

“This is a person obsessed by the power and the only way he feels safe is to amass more power,” said Filoni. “He’ll make any alliance he will need to [in order] for himself. ”

This, of course, checks. This is something that we see to do a Maul in the season 4 Death Watch, and that is also something he does with Ezra in Star Wars Rebels. Between his efforts to raise his own crime syndicate or train a new apprentice, he has always tried to associate with people each time he wanted more power and authority.

Filoni goes on to explain more about the Dark Side, which is all about ” the self and do things to satisfy themselves, to control, to manipulate, to have more power “. The more you have power and control, the more they can feed on the other in the oppressive.

“And so Maul plays both sides of the medal because he has learned from Sidious, which is, ‘I’m going to tell you some things that are true, but at the end of the day, I’ll get what I want because you will be afraid of what I tell you is the truth,” said Filoni. “And this is what he hopes for, as it aligns with him in order to get out Sidious. I think it would work with her to do it, but she cannot trust him for what would be the result – as she well knows. “

On the other side, Ahsoka knows she can’t be trusted to Maul but thinks she can overcome it

This piece was obvious. The side of Ahsoka, however, was a bit more surprising. It does not seem to Ahsoka that we know of can even consider the idea to stand on the side of a Maul, because he is so unworthy of trust. But it would simply be on the side of the Jedi. She was desperate to defeat Sidious, probably because she could feel Anakin get into trouble because of all this. So, before you know the vision of Maul about Anakin, she agreed to join him. But Filoni shared that it was the intention of the double. Or if not, it would at least defeat at his own game.

“She thinks of his side, which will also be a fatal flaw, that,” I can play his game but the defeat “, which is frankly exactly what the Jedi thought that the put an end to the war of the clones, ” said Filoni.

Filoni did this intentionally because he wanted to show that Ahsoka became this warrior intelligent and cunning. But ” it is far from perfect. “Ahsoka, even at this stage, is one of the characters the most developed of all Star warsbut she is still a teenager. She made a bad calculation.

“She has a long way to go to really overcome his own fears and his shortcomings, which, I think, makes her a character much more interesting,” said Filoni.

The dark side wins in the end, it doesn’t help Maul or Ahsoka

By entering in season 7, the fans knew Palpatine wins in the end, the birth of Darth Vader and the galactic empire overthrow the Senate of the Republic. And see the sides of Maul and Ahsoka really put into perspective the decision that the Dark Side had on the situation.

“For me, [the Dark Side is] in you and in your actions when you are afraid, and when you do things to serve you to the top of the other, and when you run out of compassion, ” explained Filoni. “This is not something that you necessarily take that grows in you, it is a way of believing and acting that you adopt. ”

That said, and with Palpatine destroying the Jedi, it was almost too easy to manipulate Anakin and turn things in his favor. Regardless of what he wanted Maul, and what he wanted Ahsoka, the dark side was going to win.

The way of the Jedi, essentially, is altruism. And none of them practiced particularly that for the moment. On one side, Ahsoka is one of the most altruistic, even more than most Jedi (hence his departure). But in this battle against Maul, there were so many things she really wanted to take over. An alliance with Maul would have, theoretically, done this even if she wasn’t going to trust him completely.
