A former NFL player accused of raping a student of the UGA

ATHENS, GA (AP) – A former NFL player and football player at the University of Georgia has been arrested and accused of rape on a student of the UGA, authorities said.

Bacarri Jamon Rambo, 29, was charged Monday with rape, reported the media. He was being held at the county jail, Athens-Clarke without bail Tuesday afternoon.

The county police Athens-Clarke responded to a rape reported on Saturday near the university in a building where Rambo lives.

The 21 year-old student told police that she had been assaulted and knew the man who had raped her, by showing them a profile of Instagram with the name of Rambo on it. Further details were not released immediately.

Rambo has been the assistant coach a graduate of the football program UGA over the last two seasons.

His attorney, Kim Stephens, has said that the arrest stems from an incident between Rambo and his accuser Friday night in the apartment complex, reported The Atlanta Journal-Constitution..

Stephens said that the woman had told the police that she ” had not consented to sex to a certain extent “, but Rambo said she had done it.

“He cooperated with the police when they are released,” said Stephens. “This was a fast turnaround. They have waited no scientific evidence to back or anything before taking office. ”

Rambo was a safety All-American in Georgia and holds a record of program equal to 16 interceptions during his term of office. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2013 and has also played with the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills. He ended his career in 2017.
