The combination of Phoenix’s sweltering heat and fatigue should have made James Harden vomit in the early afternoon of May. He certainly shouldn’t have been the one with wide eyes, laughing and full of energy – wanting to increase the pressure, amused by his friend Christian Polk bending over vomiting nearby.

After all, it was Polk’s idea to go to Tempe Butte – or “A” Mountain, as residents of Arizona State University say. Polk, a close friend and former Harden teammate at ASU and current basketball manager Eduprize, had insisted they take a trip to the mountains even if Harden had just finished training earlier.
