Water buffalo attack leaves Usk dead and two injured

Emergency services were called to the farm near Usk

One man died after a water buffalo attacked three people on commercial property.

The 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called to the address in Gwehelog, near Usk, Monmouthshire.

A 19-year-old man was also seriously injured and taken by air ambulance to Cardiff University Hospital in Wales.

A 22-year-old woman was severely injured in the leg and is being treated at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

Gwent police said they were called at around 2:50 p.m. BST on Tuesday and received support from the National Police Air Service.

The water buffalo is generally used to plow rice fields in Asian countries, while their milk is rich in fat and protein.

The water buffalo has been destroyed.

A neighbor said that the herd was a familiar sight of the farm and that it was often seen in the fields with horses.

They added that the buffalo still seemed fairly calm and that the owners had been seen petting them.
