Cliff Alexander was such a rookie basketball star H.S. … a police officer remembered him during the arrest by a former NBA player this month – and the action was taken on a police video TMZ Sports. Alexander was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. CT on May 6 in Chicago, Illinois, after the cops said he had detonated a stop sign… and soon after, an officer realized who he was exactly detained. “Oh, you’re that hooper! The cop said, before questioning him about his high school recruiting rankings. FYI – Alexander was widely regarded as the country’s best hope in the 2014 recruiting class… right next to the future Duke Blue Devil Jahlil Okafor. In the video, you can hear the officer asking Alexander about the battle for No. 1 spot with Okafor … and the interaction is pretty funny. “I remember this shit! Said the cop. ” It’s crazy! … You went to Kansas, right !? “ Of course, the arrest didn’t go so well for Alexander outside of this convo … the police say the 24-year-old had loaded firearm under his seat, which, according to an officer, appeared to be a “Glock 21”.
Alexander also admitted to the police during the arrest that he had “like 6 grams” of grass on him … and you can see it on video, he explained to an officer that he had stuffed it in his pants because “I’m paranoid”. Finally, Alexander was arrested and convicted of the serious crime of aggravated illegal use of a weapon. He was also hit with a quote for failing to stop at a stop sign – but he was NOT booked for drug charges.
Alexander – who spent only one season in the NBA after a disappointing first year in Kansas and now plays professionally abroad – is back in court in July for a hearing in the matter.
