Twitter will allow some of its employees to continue working from home “forever” if they wish, the company confirmed to CNN Business on Tuesday.
The decision reflects how certain measures implemented to deal with the pandemic could lead to a new normal for American businesses, even after the immediate health crisis.
Twitter has not specified which roles will be eligible for treatment. But the company said experience from working from home in the past few months has shown that it can operate on a large scale.
“If our employees have a role and a situation that allows them to work at home and they want to continue doing it forever, we will get there,” said Twitter vice president of human resources Jennifer Christie in a press release to CNN Business. . “Otherwise, our offices will be their warm and welcoming selves, with a few extra precautions, when we feel it is safe to return. “
The company does not plan to open most of its offices or support business travel until September. He also canceled all of his internal company events until 2020, and could potentially extend that until 2021, the statement said.
