PARIS: Several races will be organized in preparation for the rescheduled Tour de France which begins at the end of August, an updated cycling calendar revealed on Tuesday.

With the ban on sport lifted, the first race in France will be the Route d’Occitanie from August 1 to 4, followed by a one-day mountain challenge at Mont Ventoux and then the Tour de l’Ain from August 7 to August 9.

Also on the program, the Critérium de Dauphine shortened from 12 to 16 August, then the Tour du Limousin by four days from 18 August.

The International Cycling Union insisted that the dates would be constantly evaluated based on the health situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic in the country.

The Tour has been rescheduled to embark from Nice on August 29 from its original start date in June to ensure that the central financial pillar of sport can be organized this season.
