Steve Carell’s “Space Force” trailer released – Variety

Netflix released the trailer for Steve Carell’s new series “Space Force” on Tuesday, showing the star of “The Office” in his latest comedy in the workplace.

The “Space Force”, inspired by President Trump’s proposal to create a sixth branch of the military, revolves around the decorated pilot and the four-star general Mark R. Naird (Carell), who dreamed of leading the Air Force, but is instead responsible for leading the newly formed Space Force.

In the new teaser, Carell’s character struggles with the adjustments of his new role – which he faces while singing “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys alone in his office. This implies that his transition is, to say the least, less fluid, because another character is seen saying on the phone that the new branch is “a complete show”.

“Space Force” also stars Lisa Kudrow as Maggie, the wife of General Naird, who has faithfully supported her husband throughout his career, but who now finds himself facing additional challenges as his partner assumes new responsibility.

John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Fred Willard, Tawny Newsome, Diana Silvers, Alex Sparrow and Don Lake also play the main role.

“Space Force” is co-created by Carell, alongside “The Office” creator Greg Daniels, in the star’s first comedic television series since leaving the hit sitcom NBC.

The series is the second of Daniels to be launched this spring. His futuristic technological comedy “Upload” was premiered on May 1 on Amazon Prime Video.

“Space Force” should be presented on May 29. Watch the trailer above.
