Some Texas movie theaters reopen with “airport security check-in”

Some Texas businesses, including restaurants, shopping malls and movie theaters, began reopening Friday in response to Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to expire the state’s home stay order. The major theater chains remained closed, but some smaller theaters chose to reopen – with enhanced security measures in place.

EVO Entertainment CEO Mitchell Roberts told Variety that he plans to reopen two of his theaters with “airport security check-in” on Monday. He said the company “is focused on winning back the trust of its customers.”

EVO open theaters will allow guests to enter through a cordoned area and will be asked if anyone in their household has had flu symptoms in the past two weeks, Roberts told Variety. Customers will also be subject to infrared temperature control, and anyone with a temperature above 100.4 degrees will be refused.
