Royal disaster: how the royal marriage was almost ruined after a mistake | Royal | New

Elizabeth and Philip first met at the age of eight, at the wedding of Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark (cousin of Philip) and Prince George, Duke of Kent (Elizabeth’s uncle) in 1934.

After their marriage, and in the years before Elizabeth became queen, the couple occupied a royal residence in Malta from 1949 to 1951, where Prince Philip was stationed in the Royal Navy.

On November 14, 1948, the Queen and Prince Philip became parents for the first time.

Prince Charles – now the oldest heir in British history – was then followed by three other children in the years that followed: Anne, August 15, 1950; Andrew, February 19, 1960; and Edward, March 10, 1964.
