Report: Seattle Seahawks contacted veteran RB Devonta Freeman and Carlos Hyde

Seattle Seahawks continued search for backup to go back Chris Carson and reached out to the veterans Devonta Freeman and Carlos Hyde, according to reports from NFL insiders Adam Caplan and Mike Silver.

Caplan initially said the Seahawks had contacted Freeman, the long-standing Atlanta Falcons, while Silver added that Freeman had refused a one-year contract worth up to $ 4 million from the team before to contact Hyde.

The Seahawks, who also allegedly reached out to Marshawn lynch about returning earlier this month, are looking for a backup for Carson with Rashaad Penny should not be ready for the start of the season. Penny is from an ACL injury and may start the season on the PUP list.

Freeman is only 28 years old and started 14 games with the Falcons last season. He finished the year with 656 yards rushing and 410 receiving yards.

Hyde, 29, spent last year with the Houston Texans, recording 1,070 yards and six touchdowns in 16 games.
