Doha, Qatar – Qatar Airways Cargo continues to support global trade and facilitate supply
around the world in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline has now introduced an air
bridge between Vietnam and France. Thanks to this arrangement, eleven Boeing 777 freighters
will operate from Hanoi in May and four weekly passengers of Boeing 777
the aircraft will be operated from Ho Chi Minh City until June for its client, Bolloré Logistics.
The flights will carry more than 2,000 tonnes of essential medical items, face masks and
personal protective equipment to support the French government and the French ministry of health
in the fight against the pandemic.
These flights are in addition to the airline’s ten scheduled weekly cargo ships from Vietnam.
Mr. Guillaume Halleux, Director General Cargo said: “We are happy to support France in their fight
against the COVID-19 pandemic. Our entire team works hard to provide critical medical care
supplies arrive where they are needed most. We couldn’t have done it without
the help of our business customers who have helped us prioritize aid and relief shipments
on their existing trade agreements. These are difficult times, but I am convinced that we
will all come out stronger after the crisis ends. “
Since March 2020, the freight carrier has operated a number of Boeing 777F charters and
regular flights, bringing more than 5,000 tonnes of medical and emergency supplies to France.
The carrier also operated numerous charters with humanitarian aid and relief goods for several
destinations in Europe.
The airline continues to operate a large cargo schedule with approximately 175 cargo flights
per day. In recent months, the freight operator has worked closely with governments and
NGOs to bring more than 100,000 tonnes of medical supplies and aid to affected regions
the world on scheduled and charter services, the equivalent of about 1,000 at full load
