TORONTO –
Premier Doug Ford is expected to announce COVID-19 testing in Ontario this morning.

The announcement comes as the number of tests in Ontario continues to fall short of its testing capacity.

According to the Ministry of Health, the province performed 11,028 on Friday, far from the government’s target of 16,000 tests per day. The province has already stated that it has the capacity to perform at least 20,000 tests a day.

Health officials confirmed more than 400 new cases of COVID-19 in Ontario on Saturday for the third consecutive day. The province recorded 412 new cases and 27 additional deaths from the new coronavirus on Saturday morning, an increase of 1.7% from the previous day.

CTV News Toronto will broadcast the announcement live at 10:45 a.m.
