Sheridan Smith was praised by fans Monday night for his “emotional” performance in the new drama Isolation Stories from ITV.
The pregnant star, 38, starred in the fifteen-minute episode Mel, which tells four stand-alone stories from the new COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, which has so far claimed 28,734 lives in the UK alone.
During the show, Sheridan, who is expecting her first child – a boy – with fiance Jamie Horn later this month, featured her naked baby in a sweet scene where her character sang about her unborn child.

Sheridan also shared a glimpse of her home, which she shared with Jamie during the episode, with her insurance broker fiance filming scenes from the powerful show.
The episode followed Mel, who faces an uncertain future without the father of her child and without her family who abandoned her.
He also touched on several topics that people are facing during the COVID-19 crisis, such as loneliness, pregnancy, separated from family, home work and domestic violence.

She said, “They put a lot of cameras, lights and sound equipment at the door, all disinfected. Jamie then explained how it all worked.
“We had a team of people on Zoom with us at all times while filming, explaining to Jamie where to place the cameras and lighting, he was amazing and not in the industry, so I was so proud of him.
“He was so good and turned out to be a natural cameraman. They were so impressed that they trusted him to take pictures that are even tricky with a whole team.
“I couldn’t help but lift, being currently so pregnant myself, so I was in charge of the costume, makeup, continuity, etc. “

The actress admits that she immediately said yes to the project after an initial approach to Oscar-nominated writer and producer Jeff Pope, who laid the groundwork for the series after watching his wife Tina fight coronavirus symptoms.
She said: “I am very pregnant and I am isolating myself at home, so I jumped at the opportunity to make a drama about the massive drama that is taking place all around us right now.
“I think it is really important to try to reflect what is happening to us while it is still. “
Six weeks of government-mandated lockout has also made Sheridan very aware of his chance to have Jamie in relation to his character Mel.
