Phillip Schofield shot a troll who suggested that he might have a relationship with a man with whom he loved a socially distanced walk.
Instagram users questioned a photo the presenter uploaded that showed him on a walk with the friend in the countryside.
The presenter of This Morning said it was his first walking “with a companion” since lock restrictions were relaxed.
However, social media users questioned the couple’s relationship after Schofield became gay a few months ago.
The presenter was forced to state that the person in the photo was a family friend.
He posted: “First socially distant walk with a companion! Thanks Simon Schofield .. last person I had a drink with before the wheels fell, first I saw it while we were trying to tie them up! “
The photo shows the host in the foreground with a young man in the back of the photo in the countryside.
However, an Instagram user replied, “Mate, that’s what they call it these days.”
The presenter responded to the comment: “Yes! Companion! They’re what they call family friends you’ve known for 20 years and who’re coming to check on you. “
When he came out in February, he said, “With the strength and support of my wife and daughters, I have come to terms with the fact that I am gay.
“My inner conflict contrasts with an outside world that has changed so much for the better. Today, rightly, being gay is reason to celebrate and to be proud. “
