Passenger dies after terrible accident outside Anfield pub


A man died this morning as a result of a horror accident in the city.

This morning, police rushed to Belmont Road, at the intersection with Breck Road, in Anfield.

Two cars collided outside the Paisley Gates pub, the two vehicles having sustained significant damage.

A red Vauxhall Corsa had stopped on the sidewalk, a few inches from the pub, with the blue BMW 530.

In the past 20 minutes, police have confirmed that the rear passenger of the Corsa, a male, died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The driver of the same car, a man in his sixties, was seriously injured in the hospital and was in stable condition.

The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m., which also caused damage to the traffic lights during the crash.

The man’s close relatives have been informed and are being supported by officers.

The Belmont Road and Breck Road junction remains closed while officers are investigating the scene, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Part of Oakfield Road was also cordoned off.
