Jadon Sancho could cost Manchester United around £ 100m this summer, but Borussia Dortmund’s winning ability has been hailed as “invaluable”.
It is the eulogy of former England midfielder and Bayern Munich, Owen Hargreaves, who compared Sancho to Neymar.
Sancho is one of the most sought-after talents in world football after tearing apart the Bundesliga with 14 goals and 16 assists this season, although he only left the bench in Dortmund’s victory over Schalke on Saturday due to ” a persistent calf injury.
Jadon Sancho expected to cost Manchester United around £ 100m this summer
Own Hargreaves, however, praised the young 20-year-old winger as “priceless”
United is the favorite to land Sancho this summer with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to continue developing his team while Liverpool and Chelsea are also linked.
“Jadon will have a lot of choice,” said specialist at BT Sport Hargreaves. “He will know his own game and will have to find what suits him best. United have an exceptionally good group of young players and I think any young player would like to be part of it.
“Liverpool and City are far from everyone, but United would still be a team to join. Things are going in cycles and United will come back.
“Whoever gets it will be very lucky. I know it’s going to cost a lot of money, but you potentially have a player for the next decade who is one of the most unique players to watch.
“Football has become so structured and technical that a child like this can bring their own style to the game and play with such creativity – it is so difficult to anticipate what they will do.
“Normally when you watch football games you know what’s going to happen, whereas with Jadon he does things off the cuff, almost like Neymar, and in a way that is priceless because it can make things happen when the teams are seated deeply and there is no space. ‘
Hargreaves Believes Sancho Will Prosper If He Joins Man United, Like Wayne Rooney Did
Hargreaves establishes similarities between Sancho and Neymar, because they “make things happen”
Not only has Sancho thrived in the Bundesliga, he has already made his mark on the England side, becoming the youngest player to score twice in a match when he scored a double against Kosovo in September of the year last.
“His potential is off the charts, he really is,” added Hargreaves. “The impact he had everywhere he played was pretty amazing.
“I think a lot of people think young players take time to develop, but if you look at players like Wayne Rooney and Jadon, the big guys, the great guys have just found out.
“I think Jadon, like Wayne, you put him in the middle of the league, in any country, and he thrives.
“His confidence is off the charts, he never seems baffled. Even in the Champions League match against PSG, it’s almost as if he enjoyed the match against Neymar.
“I covered this match and he played better than anyone on this field, even Mbappe and Neymar. His level is exceptional and he succeeds in creating and scoring goals.
“If you see how football has become very structured, it is very unique to see a player like him – what is this old saying? If you’re good enough, you’re old enough and I think Jadon is an example. “
