He said, “At 9:00 a.m. on May 27, there were 3,798,490 tests, of which 117,013 were tests on May 26.
“267,240 people tested positive. At 26:00 on May 26, among the people who tested positive for the coronavirus, in all contexts, 37,460 had unfortunately died. “
This new number means there have been 412 additional Covid-19 deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.
The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, continues to face pressures on his overall management of the crisis in the country and in particular on the actions of his chief adviser Dominic Cummings.
Mr. Cummings’ trip to Durham will be central to questions posed to the Prime Minister by a group of MPs who will meet later today.
The Parliamentary Liaison Committee will also review the government’s current strategy to manage the spread of the virus in the country.
