Oprahquietly made a super nice gesture … calling Ahmaud Arberythe mother to pay tribute to what would have been her 26th birthday. Ahmaud’s mom, Wanda Cooper-Jones, says TMZ… Oprah personally reached out on Friday, offering condolences for the murder of her son and wishing Ahmaud a happy birthday. Wanda says she was incredulous when she answered the phone to find Oprah at the other end. She still doesn’t know how O got her number – O can afford it – but Oprah said she was thinking about Ahmaud’s family what should have been his special day. Oprah also told Wanda that she hoped the family would get justice, but did not say what she thought was justice. Wanda also said that O was happy with the suspects of Ahmaud’s murder, Gregory McMichael and Travis McMichael, were finally stopped. Oprah doesn’t stop with a cordial call… Ahmaud’s mom says she’s sending something by mail, but the content remains a mystery.
O and his family also walked 2.26 miles on Friday to honor Ahmaud the day he would have turned 26. As we reported … a lot of celebrities showed support for Ahmaud by covering 2.23 miles, which is the date Arbery was shot and killed while jogging in Georgia on February 23. Ahmaud’s mother tells us that other celebrities have come forward in support following the murder of her son, whom she calls “an insane act”. Wanda says Gayle king called and offered kind words on Thursday, and the Reverend. Jesse Jackson called her and told her that he wanted to visit her and Ahmaud’s family when it would be safe to travel again.
