New Philadelphia man dies after being tested positive for coronavirus – News – Times Reporter

NEW PHILADELPHIA A 43-year-old New Philadelphia man who tested positive for the coronavirus has died, New Philadelphia health commissioner Vickie Ionno said on Saturday evening.

The man had been tested at Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital for COVID-19 and found to be positive.

This marks the first death of a resident who tested positive in the city of New Philadelphia and the first in Tuscarawas County. The resident had other underlying medical conditions, so the Tuscarawas County Coroner will investigate the death and make the final decision.

Out of respect for the resident’s family and protected health information, the health service office will not disclose any additional information regarding this death.

“As everyone is aware that people with coronavirus infection can present themselves differently,” said Ionno. “Some people have mild to moderate symptoms, but others can become severe and cause death.”
