This happens when customers have turned to online shopping to avoid entering stores during the lockout. Many have also placed orders for a large weekly store, rather than purchasing fewer items more than once a week.

Morrisons is expected to announce expanded collaboration with Amazon in conjunction with its first quarter results tomorrow, the Sunday Times reported.

Analysts estimate that sales at Morrisons stores that have been open for more than a year increased 4.5% between January and March – but costs also increased with the hiring of 3,500 people.
