McDonald’s announces new menu for reopening, missing iconic favorites

McDonald’s has unveiled its new menu for reopening after the announcement of delivery of certain stores in the United Kingdom.

The fast food giant released a statement on Friday, stating that 15 selected branches will open on May 13, to offer a reduced menu for delivery to hungry customers who miss the delicious treats.

The sites that have been selected to reopen have not yet been announced, but the new menu is now available.

McDonald’s UK and Ireland CEO Paul Pomroy said: “On May 13 we will reopen 15 of our restaurants in the UK; it will be in a limited capacity with delivery only.

“The affected restaurants will be announced next week as we work by inviting our employees to return to work and helping our delivery partners prepare for our gradual return. “

The following items will be on McDonald’s limited menu when the stores reopen:

  • Big Mac
  • Quarter pound with cheese
  • McChicken Sandwich
  • Hamburger
  • Cheeseburger
  • Double cheeseburger

Fans of Eagle Eyed Maccies have noticed that there are no breakfast items on the menu – as well as milkshakes, fries, chicken legends, and a double quarter pound with cheese.

Some have been disappointed.

One said, “I’m all for McDonalds to cut their menu to relieve staff stress. But getting rid of the vegetarian burger is really so disappointing! McDonald’s is a takeout for me and I was really excited to have it as soon as they open in the UK.

“I can’t have anything now. “

Another said, “The fact that McDonald’s didn’t have McGriddles because of Covid makes no sense … what does that have to do with anything. “

McDonalds responded to another customer by stating, “It is always difficult when a favorite item is gone, friend. We like to change our menu, we change it from time to time. I hope you find a new favorite! “

McDonald’s will implement a series of new restaurant safety measures, including plexiglass screens and floor markings, additional protective equipment, including non-medical grade face masks and social distancing measures for delivery and service partners.

Customers will be able to order menu items via Uber Eats and Just Eat.
