It seems that The Last Dance’s backlash has arrived. ESPN aired the final episode of Michael Jordan’s popular documentary on Sunday, but one of the NBA superstar’s former teammates has already challenged the series.

Horace Grant, who won three titles alongside Jordan with the Chicago Bulls, said the documentary was edited to make Jordan more beautiful. Some critics have pointed out that the fact that The Last Dance was co-produced by one of the Jordanian companies has been overlooked.

” I would say [the documentary was] entertaining, but we know, who was there as teammates, that about 90% [was] BS in terms of reality, “said Grant Tuesday in an interview with ESPN 1000’s Kap and Co radio show.” It wasn’t real – because a lot [Jordan] told some of his teammates that his teammates had come back on him. But it was all sort of edited out of the documentary, if you want to call it a documentary. ”

Jordan is portrayed as a ruthlessly devoted man to win in The Last Dance, even if it comes at the expense of his personal popularity. Grant, who has been with the Bulls for seven years, said Jordan sometimes went too far.

“He felt he could dominate me, but that was unfortunately a mistake,” said Grant. “Because every time he took it out on me, I hit him right away. But when it came to Will Perdue, Steve Kerr and the young man, Scott Burrell, it was heartbreaking [to watch]. To see a guy, a leader, to go to these guys like that. I understand in terms of practice, you have a boost here and there, but an outright punch [teammates] and things of that nature. And calling them B and H was not necessary. ”

In The Last Dance, Jordan says he believes Grant, with whom he won three NBA titles at the Chicago Bulls, was an internal source for The Jordan Rules, a book that sometimes painted the Hall of Famer in a slightly flattering.

“Lie, lie, lie. … If MJ was mad at me, let’s settle this like men, “said Grant Tuesday. ” Let’s talk about it. Or we can fix it in another way. But again and again, he comes out and puts this lie that I was the source behind [The Jordan Rules]. Sam Smith [the author of the book] and I’ve always been great friends. We are still great friends. But the sanctity of this locker room, I would never put anything personal there. The simple fact that Sam Smith was an investigative reporter. That he had to have two sources, two, to write a book, I guess. Why would MJ just point me out?

“It’s just a grudge, man. I tell you, it was only a grudge. And I think he proved it in this so-called documentary. When if you say something about it, it will cut you, it will try to destroy your character. “

Scottie Pippen, who was the second best player on the major Jordanian Bulls teams, would also be unhappy with his portrayal in The Last Dance. Jordan called Pippen “selfish” in a first episode.

“I have never seen a number two guy without a quote, as decorated as Scottie Pippen, so poorly represented,” said Grant.

Grant said he last contacted Jordan three years ago when they texted each other about the golf course. He ended the interview by talking about the role of Jordanian society in the making of the documentary.

“When this so-called documentary is about one person, by and large, and he has the final say on what’s going to be broadcast … it’s not a documentary,” said Grant. “It’s her account of what’s going on in the last dance, in quotes. It’s not a documentary because a whole bunch of things have been cut out, edited. That’s why I call it a so-called documentary. ”
