Kevin De Bruyne opened the door to leave Manchester City if his two-year Champions League ban is upheld.

UEFA imposed the penalty after finding City guilty of “serious violations” of the financial fair play rules, but the Sky Blues are appealing the decision.

A crowd of city stars could reconsider their future at the club if the ban is not reduced and De Bruyne has hinted that he would be one of these players.

“I’m just waiting,” De Bruyne told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

“The club told us they were going to appeal and they were almost 100% sure they were right.

“That’s why I’m waiting to see what’s going to happen. I trust my team.

“Once the decision is made, I will review everything.

‘Two years [without Champions League football] would be long, but in the case of a year, I might see. “

Pep Guardiola is committed to supporting City, which denies any wrongdoing.

De Bruyne, who won two Premier League titles with City in five years, insisted that his decision to stay or leave the club would not depend on Guardiola.

“I think Pep said he would take his year anyway no matter what. Then his contract ends, ”he said.

“But I’m not going to let my decision depend on what Pep does.

“Of course, I have worked with other trainers before and when Pep leaves, I have to continue working with someone else.

“But I haven’t really paid attention to it yet. There are more important things at the moment. “
