Justin Trudeau – NHL players entering Canada under quarantine

The NHL could face another obstacle if the league decides to continue the 2019-2020 season in the near future – bringing non-resident Canadian players across the border to join their teams.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Sunday that players should – at a minimum – follow quarantine protocols if they were to arrive in Canada while the border remains closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“I think this is an issue we will need to consider,” said Trudeau. “Certainly, at a bare minimum, anyone arriving from another country will have to follow all quarantine rules in an extremely strict manner, but we are not there yet in our discussions with the NHL.

“We recognize it is a possibility, but it depends on a huge amount of things, and I don’t want to speculate about it until there are more discussions,” he said. .
