Several media have reported that Ballack claimed that Van Dijk had a chance to play at a time when the quality of the Premier League attackers was apparently not as high as it has been in the past, suggesting that he may have fought against these players.
Ballack is said to have said: “Virgil van Dijk is very fortunate to play in a time when there is no Drogba, Lampard, Alan Shearer, Henry, Rooney, Van Persie, Tevez, Adebayor and Diego Costa first League. “
Even though the German never said these words, the quote was widely shared on social media and Henderson saw it on Instagram.
Replying to a message referring to these words, the Liverpool captain simply wrote: “They are the luckiest. “
Henderson also praised Van Dijk earlier this month.
He told BT Sport: “I couldn’t talk enough about him as a player. Of course, everyone knows how good he is and what he has done in the past two years for the team, he has been immense.
“He won his individual awards and rightly so. He’s an incredible defender, an incredible player.
“But for me, he brought something huge to the field. I could not talk enough about him outside the field and the type of man and person he is.
“He’s an incredible person, a great leader in the locker room and he gave everyone a boost from the first minute he walked in. “

“It’s a pleasure to be with him every day, [he’s] always smiling, always in a good frame of mind and he has had a huge impact in the locker room and on the field since joining the club.
“He’s doing it right, lead by example and I’m just thrilled for him [with] how he played and got all the awards he got because it is well deserved and he deserves everything he gets. ”
Both Henderson and Van Dijk have been key figures in what looks to be the season in which Liverpool will finally secure their first championship title in 30 years.
